Hi there! I've been wondering about this for a while, but what was with the handshake event GFantasy had a while back? Apparently, fans sent in photos of their hands and characters (like Sebastian) responded? But how? Seiyuus? I don't really get it. ;; Thank you!
Hi! It was part of the Ayaka6 project and it’s officially called the “JPEG handshaking event”. Fans sent photos of the latest comic book (vol.23) and their hand to the official GFantasy twitter account, then they got a reply from “Sebastian”, like this:
Fan: Sebastian-san!! Please shake my hand!! Please, please! Sebastian-san!! (It’s the hand that touched Ciel!! So I’ll be indirectly touching Ciel, too!!) Please continue taking care of Ciel!!
Sebastian: That logic doesn’t work since I’m wearing gloves^^
Another fan: Sebastiaaaaaaaaaaaan!!!! I’ve been loving you for so many years, I never thought I’d be able to shake hands with you one day…! I’ll definitely keep supporting and loving you, forever! You are one hell of a butler and an idol… Sebastian, you’re the best!!!
The one who tweeted all these funny replies on behalf of Sebastian was neither Sebastian’s seiyu (it’s not an anime event, so OnoD has nothing to do with this) nor Yana Toboso, but simply the GFantasy staff in the SquareEnix office. And it’s hilarious that they didn’t just put the template replies like “Thanks for your support”, but they seriously cared to read all the messages and replied to them individually (and also proved that they have a good sense of humour) =D
There seem to have been more than 1000 participants in total, so naturally, this event was a huge mess. But the staff apparently replied to all of these 1000+ messages individually, so kudos to these hardworking staff! :D
